Artist Statement

I believe that we, as creatives, have the chance to use storytelling to inject compassion, awe, humor, and a sense of belonging into the cultural landscape.

I look forward to approaching new collaborations through this lens of cultivating meaning and inspiring action.

About

June Zandona was raised in the Pacific Northwest by an engineer and a landscape painter. After many years in the camera department in Los Angeles, June turned to directing, bringing a cinematic eye and a savvy hand to projects of all sizes. Coming up from a broad base of experience, June enjoys seamlessly switching between narrative and documentary approaches. June now splits her time between her two favorite west coast haunts and draws inspiration from both the crackling energy of Los Angeles, CA and the natural splendor of Washington state.

June’s short documentary DEEP WATERS premiered at Wasatch Mountain Film Festival in 2021. Her most recent narrative short, WEDDING VIDEO, premiered to a sold-out crowd at the 2019 Seattle Int’l Film Festival shorts showcase. Her first short film DANCER, a hybrid dance film and rumination on loneliness and connection, toured the festival circuit and premiered at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival in 2016. June’s latest dance film, this is concrete, made in partnership with choreographer Alice Gosti and collective MALACARNE can be seen in multiple festivals throughout 2023.

A select list of June’s commercial clients includes Microsoft, REI, Goodwill, Target, Facebook, Oculus, Red Paddle co, and EILEEN FISHER.
